FAQs

What level of stylist should take Curl and Texture Cutting?

A great seminar for any stylist with scissor and razor cutting experience who would like to make curly hair cutting a specialty feature of their own work.  This class is also perfect for practitioners of our American Wave permanent texture service, as the custom haircuts we teach are perfectly suited to permanent texture services. Stylists with little experience of curly hair cutting and stylists looking to master new techniques will also benefit from Curl and Texture Cutting.

Are the techniques taught on this class salon-friendly?

Yes. The seminar focuses on modern techniques to improve your work when cutting wavy and curly hair, so that you can create every kind of custom-shape for the clients in your chair. You’ll learn new cutting styles and hairdressing trends to add to your repertoire, so you become a more complete hairdresser.

What is the difference between scissor cutting and razor cutting?

A good way to visualize it, is to think of scissor cutting as like architecture and razor cutting as like sculpture. With a scissor you construct the shape; with a razor you sketch the shape.

What tools do I need to bring?

Razor, blades, scissors, clips, combs, spray bottle, diffuser, and blow-dryer

Is the class hands-on?

Yes. It’s a fully hands-on seminar with a series of lessons throughout the day. Each attendee is allocated a mannequin and practices a variety of techniques under our interactive instruction.
